Want to sell or gift land in Arkansas? Here’s what the transfer process looks like.
Step 1: Gather Ownership Info
You’ll need:
- The full name of the current owner
- Parcel number or address
- Type of deed (warranty, quitclaim, etc.)
- Any co-owners or heirs
Step 2: Prepare a New Deed
You must create a new deed with:
- Buyer’s full name
- Legal description of the property
- Notarized signature of the seller
We recommend using a title company or attorney to avoid costly mistakes.
Step 3: File the Deed with the County
Once signed and notarized, the deed is recorded with the county recorder or circuit clerk in the property’s county.
This makes the sale public and official.
Step 4: Pay Transfer Taxes (if applicable)
Some counties charge small transfer fees. These are typically handled by your title company at closing.
